The A2O Biodiversity Project uses the data generated by the Australian Acoustic Observatory (A2O)
Our project uses the A2O, a series of recorders placed all over Australia, that record 24/7. Our study, funded by the Australian Research Council (ARC), is assessing the value of acoustic monitoring as a tool for monitoring vertebrates. We compare the species we find in acoustic data with those we find at the same sites using traditional vertebrate survey methods, such as trapping and active searching. This comparison reveals how well each method samples vertebrate group.
